Post 2 of 5 CORSAIR Corsair sounds unexpectedly familiar. In X-Men #107, Jean notices the American speech coming from the man leading a crew of space pirates. On a world full of people the X-Men have never encountered, his voice gives her a reason to look more closely. He has the appearance for the job: headband, moustache, boots, a weapon ready to hand. He's comfortable giving directions to a crew whose members look very different from him. Their arrival finds him already acting as captain, making decisions while the X-Men try to understand their new allies. Jean's discovery brings that distant adventure close to home. Corsair is Christopher Summers, Scott's father. In #108 she tells him who Cyclops is while drawing on his life-force to help repair the damage inside the M'Kraan Crystal. The man with the pirate name has a son standing in the same crisis. Scott still doesn't know. His father is there, Jean has worked it out, and Corsair has heard the truth, but nobody has given Scott the chance to respond. The rescue is over before father and son can have that conversation. For now, Scott knows him as one of the pirates who helped. Corsair leaves this encounter knowing much more about the young man fighting beside him. Issues: X-Men #107–108 (1977).
