SCP-010: Collars of Control
Spoilers for SCP-010. Coercion and suicide.
SCP-010 consists of six iron collars and a remote. The operator can control the wearer, right down to changing their body shape.
SCP-010 is classified Safe and kept in locked boxes at Site-19. Only test subjects may wear the collars, and they leave storage only for testing.
The remote resembles an old radio, with a screen, a frequency tuner, and over a hundred unlabelled buttons. It can control movement, trigger adrenaline, and switch the sympathetic nervous system on or off. Body reshaping appears limited by how well the operator understands its programming language.
Police found the set in a Midwestern basement while investigating a disappearance. The homeowner and several missing people were dead. Investigators suspected mass suicide, but also found evidence of a struggle.
Attempts to copy a collar failed until researchers transferred the original's unreproducible components into the replica. Ordinary replacement parts worked; replacing one damaged transistor even improved response time.
The remote bears Russian writing and a logo of workers building a pyramid. No matching official manufacturer was identified. The final note says the collars work best for producing unskilled labour.
