8/10 · 62. Josephus’s Jewish War Written in Greek around 75–79 CE, The Jewish War recounts the conflict that culminated in Jerusalem’s destruction in 70 CE. Josephus had fought against Rome before becoming a Roman captive and then living under imperial patronage. That complicated position matters when reading his account of the war. Spirit Nation includes Whiston’s translation of all seven books, along with Josephus’s preface. https://t.co/JUCzWLW0rJ
