3/11 · Letter of Aristeas The Letter of Aristeas tells how Jewish scholars came to Alexandria to translate the Law into Greek for a royal library. Usually dated to the second century BCE, it presents an idealized origin story for the Greek Torah, alongside discussions of wisdom, food laws, and good government. Its portrait of Jewish learning in a Greek-speaking world is worth reading closely. H. T. Andrews’s 1913 translation is now available on Spirit Nation. https://t.co/qPciPIIowX
