7/11 · Joseph and Asenath Genesis briefly names Joseph’s Egyptian wife. Joseph and Asenath gives her a story of her own: a priest’s daughter confronting her inherited worship, seeking a new life, and encountering a mysterious heavenly visitor. The work’s date and Jewish or Christian origins remain debated; many proposals place it in the early centuries CE. Brooks’s 1918 edition includes the full main narrative and supplementary passages from other witnesses, presented separately so their differences stay visible. https://t.co/aZHSzwnyTW
