I just did a major update to Spirit Nation. https://t.co/y9TKOCwzUn I've spent the last couple of days going through the archive and adding more writings. There were already quite a few Old Testament, New Testament, and Apocrypha texts available, and this was a pretty large pass through what was there, what was missing, and which editions I could add with the right permissions. The additions include Jewish writings, early Christian texts, and other historical writings, using public-domain or openly licensed editions. Some are works that weren't in the archive before, and some are additional editions of works that were already there. I'm going to follow this with about six threads, covering around 10 or 11 books at a time. I'll go into what each one is, where it comes from, and a little of the background behind it. There's quite a bit here, so I figured that would be easier than trying to put everything into one post. I also added a new Reading Mode if you want a less distracted environment while you're going through a text. And I think I've fixed most of the rate-limiting issues. Bots had been putting a lot of strain on the server, and I've also been working on the API behind the site, so I tightened things up. Some of that ended up making things harder for normal readers too, which I've been working on. If you run into issues opening something or reading through the site, let me know. I'll take another look and loosen things further where I need to. I'm trying to keep bots from automatically scraping everything while still letting people come in and read normally. I'll start sharing the additions below so you can see what's been added and find anything you might want to spend some time reading.
