I retired Blink from my Labs and open sourced it. I got to the point where I didn't think the market for it justified the time it would take to keep pushing it as a product. So I've released the code for anyone who wants to run it, learn from it, or build their own version. Blink is a self-hosted publishing app. You can write formatted text posts, share public links to them, have comments and profiles, and moderate the content on your own instance. It supports bold, italic, and underline, along with category requests and approximate session-based view counts. You have the basic pieces for publishing text and letting people interact with it, with the source available if you want to change how it works. If you want a small publishing site or a community built around text posts, that's the use case to look at. You could run the existing app on your own server, change the interface, or adapt the posting and comment features around a particular subject or group. It's built with PHP and SQLite. There's no separate database server or npm build to set up, and installation instructions are in the repository. I've marked Blink Gold at v1.3.0. That means I'm happy with what it does and consider the version I've released complete. It's available as-is, and I'm not making a commitment to keep adding features or maintaining it on a schedule. Retiring a lab frees up the time I was spending on it. Open sourcing it also means the work is still available to someone who has a use for it. If that sounds useful for something you're building, here it is. Project page: https://t.co/IvEs3dtO7a Source: https://t.co/fZMRCxMvfC
