I had an idea for a new lab today on Logan Pen Dragon Forge. I'm going to be working on that. Should be launching it today or tomorrow. The idea is this: I sometimes want to post things about video games, like how to be the boss, how to get through an area, or how to find a specific thing. It's kind of like a cross between a small post and a walkthrough but not quite a walkthrough, more like a tutorial. When I have this happen, maybe I have a boss fight that I want to explain how to beat, or I have a collectible that I want to try to get that I found everything for in the game. I want to write something and post about it but I find myself not having a whole lot of time for blogging because I'm a creative writer. I write a lot of novels and short stories so I'm already writing all the time. I don't want to add an extra type of media content to what I'm writing. I have to start writing blog posts as well. What I thought of is that a lot of times I'll create a bit of information, again something akin to the cross between what a normal post would look like and a tutorial. It can be any size. It can be 5 words or 5,000. People could definitely use it more like a blog if they wanted. That's the point of what it is: they would post on this lab and it would be a public-facing SEO-optimized and indexed post that they want to post. Other users can comment on it and then it can be public-facing so it can be shared. If I ever want to post something about a video game, I have to go to Reddit, find the right subreddit, and post it. Sometimes they get taken down, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they get traction, sometimes they don't. I have to post it on X, which isn't always publicly indexed and does a bad job of indexing publicly anyway. I have to blog about it or I have to drop a Substack note. They do get indexed but they're still hard to find. My vision for this is: you go to the website and you post what you want to post. You could use it for that but it's not meant to be like a normal everyday search engine. It's meant to post pieces of information that you think would be extra useful and people can get and see those and then share those. A good example is if you're a mechanic who's working on a car and one day you want to post to somebody how to change your own tire but you don't have a blog. You don't feel like creating a blog, you don't feel like writing a really long post, so you write whatever comes to mind: this basic tutorial for how to change a tire. You post it and then you share it. At this point I'm going to intentionally keep it simplified. I have a very specific idea and vision for the lab and I'm going to be pushing it out later on today or tomorrow. I'll make modifications and improvements to it over time.
