I rolled out a pretty decent update to the Everythiing Museum between yesterday and today.
- Added History to the navigation, homepage and Collections. Five museum scans now have readable inscriptions: the labels of Paniskos and Herakleides, the eye votive, the herald’s staff and the stele of Neokles and Aristoteles.
- You can hover over an inscription to preview its meaning and select it to keep the English reading open. The records explain names, abbreviations and restored letters, with links to the museum sources.
- Added clickable explanations for both eyes on the bronze votive. Numbered guides are smaller and hidden on arrival, with a show/hide button beside the model controls.
- History now uses the same left navigation, central model and right information panel as the other exhibits. Combined its collection filters into one row and added touch and keyboard controls for passages.
- Added front, reverse and edge views, raking light, surface relief, model downloads and full text records. Checked the historical scans against museum previews and catalogue numbers, improved scan processing and corrected front views and reverse-surface rendering.
- Replaced the male and female anatomy references with the Kabe-Tech models, keeping named structures, source credits and license information. Both open with all supplied systems and surface pieces visible. The female exterior view keeps the body assembled; its source does not supply complete skin or internal organs.
- Added explanations for individual anatomical structures and clearer regional navigation. Expanded the historical and cultural information for architecture, machinery and mythology.
- Organized exhibit information into overviews, facts, subject sections and sources. Simplified layer controls and placed engine operation under Tools.
- Expanded all eight planet records and the Moon record with surface, atmosphere, orbit, geology and exploration information. Measurements are visible when an exhibit opens, and selected places have their own records.
- Added a separate time panel with information about the selected period, the evidence behind the display and calendar controls.
- Added pagination with twelve exhibits per page. Page counts update when visitors sort or filter the collection.
- Widened exhibit search and adjusted desktop and mobile layouts for browsing, navigation, controls, records and the atlas timeline.
This is still a relatively small update compared to some of the ones I'm still working on. I'll update again in the coming weeks as I start putting more exhibits together for it, and making the existing ones better.
