Another thing I want to talk about is Codex Astra. I don't really get on a lot of these bandwagons where people complain about a lot of stuff. I don't normally put myself in the mix of the people that are complaining about stuff but I will complain when there's something valid to complain about.
Again I'm not saying I'm better than the people that complain about things. I'm just saying I don't really pay much attention. I have fun with something, I mess with something, and I experience it. If I have an issue most of the time I just get over it but it's obviously when there's a valid concern, when you're talking about Astra codex limits. You're talking about a lot and I sat down and did some math recently too. ChatGPT Soul had pretty good usage. They had a few times where they were burning through it a little bit quickly but for the most part it had some pretty solid usage. It worked out pretty well.
Astra is a nightmare on usage and there's been nothing but complaints about how fast it burns through things. Now I will admit that there is this whole chain of thought: Astra is a more powerful model. It's expected to cost more to run and it's expected to burn through more usage to run. I understand that and I'm taking that into account.
Now when you're using a pro account at, let's say, 20x, every reset you burn through, you have to understand: if you spend $100 worth of tokens, even on a pro account you're still paying 1:1. For every dollar you spend you're buying a dollar's worth of tokens and you're burning through those in usage. It's not like you pay $100 and you get that $100 but it's 20x usage. That's not the case. It goes back to a 1:1 ratio, which is what a lot of people, I think, aren't thinking about.
If you recharge or reup or buy tokens (whatever you want to call it), you're spending a fortune. I might be wrong but the math is coming out to multiple thousands of dollars worth for every single reset. If you're looking at it at the 20x usage, it's a lot. It comes up to a lot. For every dollar spent, in my opinion, the way that it should work is: if you're spending money on the pro plan at 20x, then you spend $100. That $100 should burn slower. It should burn at 20x the normal rate but that's not the case. Understandably that's not something that I doubt will ever change so I'm going to go back to my original thought process.
We really need the ability to buy resets. Even if they're at $80 a pop per reset, you're saving a fortune, which you still save. Before I was wondering why these people had multiple accounts, 2 or 3 accounts at $200 a pop. I realize if you're burning through that much usage, you save yourself a fortune because you would be spending $300 to $800 possibly per month on usage if you didn't have the pro account. If you're using it that much, this is the first time since I've been using Codex, since the day that it came out, that I've seriously considered getting me a second account. Even tonight I sat down to do some work, do some stuff. I was running it for not even an hour across maybe 3 or 4 threads and I'm down to 95%, 5% in less than an hour. It still burns way too fast.
