There's been a lot of news going on in the gaming industry over the last 6 months and a lot of it I've been watching but haven't really commented on much. I just wanted to take a few minutes to talk about some of this. It's quite a few different topics wrapped up into one conversation but I wanted to just put my two cents in there. First of all, Sony PlayStation: they've been doing a lot of things lately to piss a lot of people off. Two things come to mind: 1. The fact that they're going digital only. They claim that around 80% of all the full game sales are already digital so it makes sense for them to switch to digital only. I think it's one of the worst decisions they could possibly make. They pissed off almost the entire PlayStation fanbase. There's not a single person that I know of that's happy with that decision. It was stupid on their part. 2. They dumped Hideo Kojima's Physint. Not something that I think is a good decision on their part but also I can't really comment on a whole lot of that because I don't know as much about that situation. I've heard two different sides to the story and two different dynamics of the situation. I know I love the Metal Gear series. I played most of them and I love them all. He's an extremely good creator. They claimed, or reports are claiming, that it was because the game itself was over budget. They kept missing development targets. They were worried about his previous games having bad financial performance. I still think it was a stupid decision on their part because now Xbox, their biggest rival, picked it up right where they left off. Now Xbox has been basically benefiting from their stupid decisions. The next thing is Wolverine. I am going to put my two cents in here because I do know more about this. Wolverine got a lot of bad reviews. I believe part of it is because people are still pissed off at PlayStation because of the whole disc situation and part of it is because they are grappling with small stuff, a lot of which most of them don't fully understand. A lot of the people playing the game aren't old-school comic fans either and don't know as much about the comics. I've looked at some of the reviews but I haven't played the game. I most certainly am playing it when it comes out. I'm not going to comment much on the quality of the game itself but from the limited amount of things that I've seen people complaining about, it's little stuff like the marker that they use for the senses. I heard somewhere you could turn it off. I heard in other places that you couldn't but that's a small detail. Other people have complained that it's not as long as they were hoping, and there are some issues with combat and the fact that QTs, even if you fail them, still let you continue the game. I'm going to post a lot of my thoughts after I play it. I'm planning on playing it the day that it drops. I'm going to start on it on the 15th. If it's only like a 20- or 30-hour game, I'm probably going to finish it within a matter of a few days because I play a lot of games; but I do want to reserve judgment on the game until I play it. I don't ever trust anyone else's reviews about a game. I'm most certainly going to give it a shot and see if I like it. I'm an old-school Wolverine fan. I've read every comic he's ever been in and I've watched all of his movies and all of his shows. I know everything about Wolverine. He's one of my favorite characters of all time. I played all of his games so maybe it ends up not being as good; maybe it ends up being really good. I don't know but I'm not going to let the reviews decide that. I'm going to take the time to play it and decide that for myself on the 15th.
